Hello everyone!! (a quick note that this post is a little long, lol!!)

I wanted to share some of the things I have been making using the absolutely amazing February kit!!!

Here is my layout for Boys Rule Sketch 3(Feb. 3rd sketch) with a few closeup pics:

A few closeups to show the little details...

Remember, you have plenty of time to play along with this sketch!! It runs through March 14th. If you are wanting to play along with the 2 January sketches, you have a week to get your layouts in.

The other day, my oldest son, Daniel, and I were walking through our local Staples, and stumbled across some composition books for only $1. I grabbed a few thinking that it would be fun to recover them, but never thought it would be near as fun as it was!! I LOVED it!! Daniel is such a creative little thing...he loves to draw and write stories, so I thought that giving him his own creative outlet book would be great(given he has a few already, lol). But this one he got to help me pick a title, the papers he liked and wanted me to use, and a few other details. He loves the result, and I hope you do too!!

Fun stuff, huh??!! He absolutely loves that he can close it with the string, and hold his place with the hinge clip.

So, how cool are those stars?? Well, if you purchased the kit, you can make those, too!! Tim Holtz(man genius) has this amazing video on his blog about distressing die-cuts. You can check it out HERE.

I took a few photos of my process of making the stars...

 You start with you TH Kraft-Core cardstock die cut sheet, but remember to leave the die cuts in the paper...don't take them out!!

 You then take your sander block, and sand down the top of the cardstock, all the way around each die-cut shape. As you can see, it mostly sands the edges of the die-cuts.
Here are the black stars, popped out of their negatives...you can see the distressing along the edges....

And the same with the teal stars...I love the way the teal looks!!

And a close-up on the book...I did take my TH distresser and grunged up the edges of them...

I love this technique and definitely plan to do it again!!

If you all got your hands on the kit and add-on, and try out this technique, let us know!! Comment on my post at Boys Rule with a link and show us what you made!!

Thank you all for your continued support and super sweet comments!! :)

Practical Scrappers: Corrugated Elements on Layouts {Creative Scrappers sketch 193}

*A quick note that I have NOT heard from the Frosted Designs Winter Wonderland Blog Hop RAK winner. If I do not get a response by Thursday evening, I will randomly select a new winner and post on Friday!! To see if you were the winner, go HERE.*

Hello everyone!! Hope you all are having a fabulous day!! I am back today to share my layout from the Practical Scrappers corrugated elements on a layout post

I used the current sketch from Creative Scrappers (sketch 193):

And a few detailed photos:

This was a really fun, stress-free layout to make...I used my new TCW brick mask, and placed a large circle negative over it to get my circle background. I hand drew and cut the bracket background paper, and I took some star negatives that had run through my cricut and hand cut out my stars. This came together nicely and easily and I really love it! :)

You should definitely head over to Practical Scrappers and see all the different ways the PS gals and fans have used corrugated elements...lots of inspiration!!

Thanks so much!! :)

(For this layout, I used the Echo Park Little Boy Collection kit, TCW 12x12 mask in Bricks, AC Thickers in Daiquiri, some Walnut ink mist, twine, buttons and black and white cardstock)

Practical Scrappers CMT - Banners without Triangles {PageMaps sketch}

Practical Scrappers Challenge Me Tuesday this week was to have a banner without triangles on your layout. Well I love banners, so this was an easy one for me!! :)

I loved the current sketch at PageMaps for the CHAW12 contest...amazing, amazing sketch!!

Some detailed photos:

Love these photos...have so many left to scrap, but these were just the right size and went together so well. Such a sweet boy and big brother!!
I hand cut my clouds and the moon, as well as the banner and the fake tag. Funny that I wasn't a super big fan of the "cloud" phase, but now I am loving them!! May have to do more soon!! lol

You should definitely head over to Practical Scrappers and see all the amazing layouts featuring non triangular banners!!

(I have used my Nov. Burlap and Buttercup kit yet again...LOVE this kit...the papers are just amazing!! Along with it I have added a few things...Kaiser pearls in bliss, Twinery buttercream twine, TPS fabric brads, eyelets and glitter alphas, MME Limetwist sticker, white gel pen.)
